Rationale
Although agriculture plays an extremely vital role in the economy of Ghana, it suffers several problems related to post-harvest losses. It has been estimated that about 35% of the food produced in Ghana is lost after harvest. There is therefore the need to train personnel who will be able to integrate multidisciplinary knowledge in science, agriculture and engineering to help in the management of post harvest processes and equipment.
Goal and Objectives
The programme aims at equipping the student with the methods of handling, processing and storage of agricultural produce as well as structures and equipment employed in the handling, processing and strorage of such produce. It also prepares the candidate in agro-waste management techniques.
